10) concludes the regular season this week with a pair of games. The Billikens
host Charlotte (15-11, 7-5 A-10) Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. Senior guard Janisha

be honored before tip-off. SLU travels to Bronx, N.Y., to play Fordham (11-16,
2-10 A-10) in the season finale Sunday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. (CT).

A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP SCENARIO - The top 12 teams
in the final standings qualify for the 2012 Buick Atlantic 10 Conference
Women's Basketball Championship, which will be played Friday through Monday,
March 2-5, at Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia. The
tournament winner receives an automatic NCAA Tournament bid. Saint Louis is in
11th place heading into this week's action. St. Bonaventure leads the pack at
12-0, followed by Temple (11-1), Dayton (10-2), Richmond and Saint Joseph's
(8-4), Charlotte and Duquesne (7-5), La Salle (6-6), George Washington and
Xavier (4-8), Saint Louis (3-9), Fordham and Massachusetts (2-10), and Rhode
Island (0-12).
ABOUT
THE BILLIKENS
- Courtney Webb
leads the Billikens with an 11.1 scoring average. Desirae Ball averages 9.1 points, followed
by Lorreal Jones
(8.4 ppg), Mallory Eggert (7.4 ppg) and Janisha Gearlds (6.1 ppg). Jones leads the
club in rebounding (8.0 rpg), followed by Eggert (6.9 rpg). Gearlds (4.0 apg)
leads the squad in assists, Jamesia Price (34) is the leader in steals, and Kim Bee has a team-high 32 blocks.
The Billikens are +5.6 in rebounding margin and average 15.9 offensive
rebounds.
LAST
WEEK - Courtney
Webb scored
21 points and added five rebounds, and three teammates registered career highs
in various categories in the Billikens' 63-59 win over Massachusetts Feb. 15 at
Chaifetz Arena. Morgan Johnson recorded career highs of 15 points and seven
rebounds, and Janisha Gearlds had a career- and game-high 10 assists. Kim Bee grabbed career highs and game
highs of 14 total rebounds and eight offensive boards. Her effort lifted SLU to
a 41-34 advantage on the glass. Bee also had a game-high four blocks. In Saint
Louis' 72-54 loss at Dayton Feb. 18, Lorreal Jones scored 13 points and Desirae
Ball tallied
11. Jones and Mallory Eggert tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds apiece
to lead the Bills to a 41-33 edge on the boards. Five of Eggert's rebounds were
offensive caroms. Bee collected six rebounds, while Gearlds led SLU with six
assists. The Billikens shot 46.2 percent from the field, their best mark in an
A-10 game this season.

LOOK AT CHARLOTTE
- The 49ers, who bring a three-game losing streak to Chaifetz Arena, are in
their first season under head coach Cara Consuegra. Charlotte leads the A-10 in
rebounding margin (+7.1), blocks (5.2 bpg) and free-throw attempts (20.5 pg)
and trails only Saint Louis in offensive rebounding (15.4 orpg). Jennifer
Hailey ranks fifth in the A-10 in scoring (14.1 ppg) and is joined in double
figures by Epiphany Woodson (12.0 ppg). Amanda Dowe (9.3 rpg, 3.8 orpg) and
Hailey (9.2 rpg, 3.6 orpg) are 1-2 in the conference in rebounding and
offensive rebounding. Hailey leads the league in blocks (2.2 bpg) and is third
in field goal percentage (.535), while Ny Hammonds ranks fifth in assists (3.7
apg). Hillary Sigmon does not have enough 3-point field goals to qualify for an
A-10 ranking but shoots 46.9 percent (30-of-64) from beyond the arc.
THE
CHARLOTTE SERIES
- The 49ers lead the series 21-6, including an 11-2 mark since SLU and
Charlotte joined the A-10. Charlotte has won three straight in the series.
Saint Louis' last victory over the 49ers was a 65-63 decision in St. Louis Feb.
18, 2010.
FIRST MEETING
RECAP - Jacy Bradley scored 16 points, including 14 in the
second half, and Morgan Johnson (3-of-5 from 3-point range) tallied 11
points in the Billikens' 61-52 loss at Charlotte Jan. 11. Desirae Ball tied her career
high with six rebounds, while Lorreal Jones and Mallory
EggertKim Bee led Saint Louis
with a career-high three steals. grabbed six boards apiece.
A LOOK AT FORDHAM - Fordham, which plays at No. 19 St.
Bonaventure Wednesday night before hosting the Billikens, leads the A-10 in
scoring defense (54.0 ppg). The Rams have risen to the top of that list by
limiting opponents to an average of 2.8 3-point field goals per game and 28
percent from beyond the arc, ranking first and second, respectively, in the
league. Fordham also is productive offensively from long range, leading the
A-10 in 3-point field goals per game (6.6) and featuring five players who have
at least 25 triples. Arielle Collins (11.3 ppg), Becky Peters (10.6 ppg) and
Abigail Corning (10.4 ppg) lead the Fordham offense. Charlotte Stoddart is the
Rams' leading rebounder (6.3 rpg), while Collins has team-best averages of 3.3
assists and 1.9 steals. Head coach Stephanie Gaitley is in her first season at
Fordham, which has dropped its last five decisions.
THE
FORDHAM SERIES
- The Billikens lead the series 5-1, including last year's 64-54 triumph in St.
Louis. SLU owns a five-game series winning streak.
"POOH" BIDS FAREWELL
TO CHAIFETZ ARENA - Janisha "Pooh" Gearlds, the first Saint Louis women's
basketball player to play an entire four-year home career at Chaifetz Arena,
will finish her tenure as the program's record holder for games played. Gearlds
has played in 116 contests and has started 108 times. She has 356 career
assists, good for third place on the Saint Louis list. Her career-high 108
helpers this year rank fourth on the Billikens' season list for seniors and
ninth on SLU's overall season chart. Gearlds' career-high 10 assists vs.
Massachusetts made her one of only three A-10 players to record a double-digit
assist total this season. She is fifth on SLU's career steals list with 148 and
needs four thefts to pass fourth-place Shatoya Likely.

THE NATIONAL STATISTICS - Through games of Feb. 19, Saint Louis ranks 35th in
rebounding margin (+5.6) and 63rd in 3-point field goal percentage defense
(.283).

Atlantic 10 Conference in offensive rebounding (15.9 orpg) and ranks second in

in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and eighth in offensive rebounding (2.7 orpg), while Mallory

rebounding (6.9 rpg). Janisha Gearlds is fourth in assists (4.0 apg), Kim

offensive rebounding (13.7 orpg), fourth in rebounding margin (+4.4), fifth in
3-point field goal percentage (.336) and tied for seventh in steals (6.8 spg). Mallory
Eggert is fifth in field goal percentage (.543), tied for seventh in
offensive rebounding (2.7 orpg) and 13th in rebounding (6.5 rpg). Courtney
Webb is tied for fifth in 3-point field goals per game (1.7) and sixth
in 3-point field goal percentage (.392). Lorreal Jones is 10th in
rebounding (7.0 rpg), while Janisha Gearlds is tied for
seventh in assists (3.8 apg).
FINDING THE
MARK - The Billikens have produced much better shooting performances
since getting off to a slow start. After connecting on just 31.8 percent from
the field in its first eight games, Saint Louis has shot 40.6 percent over its
last 19 outings.
DIALING LONG
DISTANCE - The Billikens have been more prolific from 3-point range in
recent outings. After averaging just 2.3 treys in its first 12 games, SLU has
connected for 56 3-pointers (56-of-157, .357) in its last 15 contests, a 3.7
average.
JONES, EGGERT
AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN REBOUNDING CATEGORY - Lorreal Jones is tied for third
in the Atlantic 10 Conference in double-digit-rebound games, and Mallory
Eggert is tied for eighth. Jones has corralled 10 or more boards nine
times this season, boosting her career total to 18. Eggert has six double-digit
efforts (12 career).
ON A ROLL FROM
THE STRIPE - Lorreal Jones has made 34 of her last 40 free-throw
attempts (.850). That streak includes 7-of-7 vs. Nebraska-Omaha, her second
perfect effort with at least seven attempts from the stripe this year, and
8-of-9 vs. Rhode Island. Earlier this season, Jones was 8-of-8 vs. Missouri.
DOUBLE VISION - Lorreal
Jones notched her fifth double-double of the year, tying for fourth in
the A-10, with 13 points and 13 rebounds vs. Duquesne. Jones' other
double-doubles came vs. Missouri (career-high 19 points, 14 rebounds), at Murray
State (11 points, 11 rebounds), at Wisconsin (13 points, career-high 16
rebounds) and vs. La Salle (13 points, 11 rebounds). Mallory Eggert is tied for 10th
in the A-10 with three double-doubles, achieved in consecutive games - at
Florida Atlantic (14 points, 14 rebounds), vs. Missouri-St. Louis (11 points,
11 rebounds) and vs. Drake (11 points, 10 rebounds).
20-20 VISION - Courtney
Webb's 21-point performance vs. Massachusetts was her fifth scoring
output of 20 or more points this season, tying her for fourth in the A-10 in
20-point games. Webb scored a career-high 23 points vs. UMKC, 21 at Memphis, 20
at Illinois-Chicago and 20 at Murray State.
CRASHING THE
GLASS - Lorreal Jones and Mallory Eggert were two of the
Atlantic 10 Conference's best offensive rebounders last year, ranking third
(3.6 orpg) and 11th (2.6 orpg) in the league, respectively. They have picked up
where they left off as Eggert averages 2.9 offensive boards and Jones collects
2.7 this season. SLU averages 15.9 offensive rebounds, including a season-high
31 vs. Missouri.

HERE - When Kim Bee blocked five shots against Murray State
Nov. 26, it marked the first time a Billiken had tallied at least five blocks
since April McKinney rejected six shots against Dayton Dec. 2, 2000. Bee had
four blocks in the season opener at Memphis and four against Massachusetts.
With 32 blocks, she ranks second on SLU's season list for juniors and is tied
for seventh on the Bills' overall season list.
BILLIKENS
COLLECT WEEKLY HONORS - Desirae Ball was selected Atlantic 10 Conference
Rookie of the Week for Jan. 2-8 and for Feb. 6-12. Jacy Bradley was named to the
Jesuit Basketball Spotlight Honor Roll for Dec. 26-Jan. 1 after earning
All-Tournament accolades at Seattle University's Washington Dental Service
Holiday Hoops Tournament. Mallory Eggert was named Performer of the Week by
Pickin Splinters, a website that covers Atlantic 10 Conference and Metro
Atlantic Athletic Conference basketball, for Dec. 5-11.
INJURY SIDELINES BRADLEY - Jacy Bradley is out for the season after sustaining a
knee injury late in the Charlotte game Jan. 11. Bradley averaged 8.6 points,
3.1 assists and 1.1 steals. In her final five games, she averaged a team-high
12.8 points while shooting 50 percent (26-of-52) from the field overall and
56.3 percent (9-of-16) from 3-point range.
