ST. LOUIS - Four Billikens earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Conference indoor track and field Academic All-Conference team, as announced by the league office.

For the women, Jessica Hoefert and Allison Walter were recognized, while Michael Scolarici and Tim Zellmer earned the honor on the men's side.

It is the first time SLU has had four honorees on the 20-person indoor track and field Academic All-Conference team. In addition, the Billikens are the only A-10 team this year to have four student-athletes selected.

Hoefert, a junior biology major from Godfrey, Ill., garnered second-team All-Conference honors in the 5,000 meters at the A-10 Indoor Championships, finishing second in a time of 17:10.56. She also placed fifth in the A-10s in the 3,000 meters with at time of 10:02.98. Walter, a junior theological studies major from Shawnee, Kan., was a second-team All-Conference performer in the 400 meters, turning in a school-record time of 56.42 to finish second.

Scolarici, a sophomore public health major from O'Fallon, Ill., turned in a fifth-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the A-10 Championship with a time of 14:45.04. He also ran the 3,000 meters for the Billikens this season, finishing second at the Illini Invitational. Zellmer, a sophomore medical sciences major from Milwaukee, Wis., led all Billikens with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the A-10 Championship with a time of 14:44.56. He won the 3,000 meters at the Illini Invitational and posted a PR of 8:33.58 in the event at the prestigious Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame.

SLU opens its outdoor season March 22-23 with the Billiken Track and Field Kick Off at SLU Medical Center Stadium. The Billikens also host a home meet on April 12-13.
