ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis track and field hosted the second annual SLU Invitational this weekend at SLU Medical Center Stadium. Complete results can be found at the link above.
Saint Louis turned in numerous PRs and first-place finishes. On the women's side, Naya Owusu won the high jump with a mark of 5-6.5. Hannah Kuenzel completed the throws trifecta, winning the discus with a toss of 131-8, the hammer throw with a school record toss of 151-05 and the shot put (45-8.5).
The women's 4x400-meter relay relay turned in a season-best time of 3:47.79. The quartet was comprised of Kita Alvares, Allison Walter, Ashley Roche and Brooklyn Bastain.
Stephanie Uhrich achieved the school record in the pole vault with a mark of 11-1. Walter placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 55.59, while Alvares turned in a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.60.
The Billikens finished 1-2-3 in the 5,000 meters, led by Margo Richardson's first-place time of 16:48.30. Lauren Fyalka was second with a PR of 17:09.83, while Jessica Hoefert finished third in a time of 17:31.40.
On the men's side, Todd Johnson PR'd in the shot put with a first-place heave of 47-2.25. Tim Zellmer won the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:09.79. Michael Scolarici and Henry Arndt finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 1,500 meters with times of 3:55.23 and 3:56.42. Sean Canavin placed third in the 800 meters, crossing the finish in 1:53.18.
The Billiken women finished second overall in the meet, with Lincoln winning the team title. The men finished third behind Washington University (first) and McKendree (second).
