Saint Louis baseball has been named a top-100 program of the modern era by D1Baseball.com. Saint Louis was also mentioned the last time D1Baseball compiled the list in 2015. Programs were rated by recent success (within 5-10 years), coaching staff quality, facilities, scholarship/financial aid situation, conference dynamics and recruiting/player development.
Saint Louis head baseball coach Darin Hendrickson has announced the elevation of Will Bradley to associate head coach. Bradley, the Billikens' recruiting coordinator and primary hitting coach, has been at SLU for 10 seasons. At Saint Louis, Bradley has been instrumental to the success of the Billikens' baseball program. He was on staff during the school-record 41-win seasons of 2012 and 2013. Bradley also coached Zach Miller and Braxton Martinez, who each earned Freshman All-America honors. He oversaw the development of outfielder Alex Kelly, who earned All-America accolades in 2013. Bradley coached 18 Billikens who have gone on to professional baseball careers. Under Bradley's tutelage, the Billiken offense has reached new heights. The 2015 season saw the Billikens hit .307, the fifth-highest average in Saint Louis history. The 2010 team set SLU records with 436 runs scored, 394 RBIs and 121 doubles. Since Bradley took over hitting coach duties in the 2008 season, the Billikens have set records in runs, hits, doubles, RBIs and total bases. He also coaches the defense and has overseen record-setting seasons in putouts and assists.
Saint Louis baseball will play Parkland College on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Busch Stadium as part of a doubleheader with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Billikens will play after the Cardinals take on the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals game will begin at 4:15 p.m. Tickets for the Cardinals/Brewers game are $45 and include admission to the Billikens' game. Fans can purchase tickets from the Saint Louis baseball office at 314-977-3172 or e-mail head coach Darin Hendrickson at email@example.com. The Billikens and Parkland played at Busch Stadium last year on Sept. 14. Saint Louis won the game 10-3. The game at Busch Stadium will be the culmination of Billiken baseball's alumni weekend. On Sept. 29, alumni and friends of the program are invited to play in the Saint Louis Baseball Golf Tournament at Arlington Greens Golf Course in Granite City, Illinois. For more information on the golf tournament, call the Saint Louis baseball office at 314-977-3260 or fill out this form. The 2018 Billikens return seven positional starters and two weekend starting pitchers from last year's team that finished 35-22. They will be led by pitcher Miller Hogan, who was drafted by the Brewers and returns to SLU for his junior season. He was 8-3 with a 2.70 ERA as a sophomore. His eight wins last year are tied for the sixth-most in a single season at Saint Louis. Hogan's ERA is the 13th best single season mark. He also had 78 strikeouts and 23 walks in 90 innings last season. Also returning is senior catcher James Morisano, who led SLU with a .316 batting average and 12 home runs, as well as closer Ryan Lefner, who set a SLU record with 14 saves a year ago.
