Morisano Hits Grand Slam in Win Over Creighton

Saint Louis rises to 6-1 overall after a 7-3 win over Creighton in its final game of the Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament. Devin Mahoney (2-0) gets the win and Sean Frontzak (1) gets the three-inning save. Junior catcher James Morisano hit a grand slam in the fifth inning for his third HR of the year.

Billikens Hold Off Late Rally for 5-3 Win

The Billikens held off a ninth-inning rally from Santa Clara to pick up a 5-3 win over the Broncos. Santa Clara got the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Aaron Patton got the four-pitch strikeout for the one-out save. Miller Hogan earned the "W" his second of the season. Saint Louis rises to 5-1 overall ths season.

Baseball Falls to Michigan

Saint Louis was handed its first loss of the season with a 6-1 defeat to Michigan. The lone Billiken run came from a James Morisano home run. Sophomore Jackson Wark (1-1) was hit with the loss. Saint Louis falls to 4-1 this season.

Baseball Heads West for Jack Gifford Memorial

The Billikens start the season 4-0 for the first time since 2002. They bost one of the top offensive teams in the NCAA after scoring 46 runs (10th in NCAA) on 58 hits (seventh in NCAA) in four games last weekend. Saint Louis is led at the plate by reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week Aaron Case, who is hitting .474 with a .565 on-base percentage and a .947 slugging percentage. Senior Trent Leimkuehler is third in the NCAA with four doubles this season. On the mound, Miller Hogan is the Billiken ace, with a 0.00 ERA in five innings pitched with eight strikeouts and four walks.

Saint Louis junior center fielder Aaron Case has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference baseball co-Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Baseball Tops Notre Dame, Rises to 4-0

The Billikens rose to 4-0 with an 8-3 victory over Notre Dame in San Antonio, Texas. The win gave Saint Louis the tournament crown for the Alamo Irish Classic. Aaron Case paced the Billiken offense with a home run and four RBIs in the contest. Lefty Aaron Patton gets the win in relief, his first win as a Billiken.

Baseball Defeats Notre Dame 8-6 in San Antonio

Saint Louis defeated the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame 8-6 to rise to 3-0 for the first time since 2002. Transfers Aaron Case, Carter Hanford and Nick Reeser powered the SLU offense. Case finished the game 3-for-5 with three runs score and an RBI. Hanford was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Reeser went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.

Offense Explodes on Baseball's Opening Day

Saint Louis poured on 24 runs in the Billikens' first game of the season, defeating Lafayette 24-6. It is the most runs scored by a Saint Louis team since the 1992 team defeated Southwest Baptist 30-8 (also the first game of the season). Additionally, the Billikens had 24 hits in the contest, setting a SLU record. Sophomore Miller Hogan picked up the win.

Baseball Set to Open Season in San Antonio

The Billikens are led by 2016 Atlantic 10 All-Conference performer Trent Leimkuehler, who leads all returners with 10 home runs last season. Also returning is catcher James Morisano, who was recently tabbed as one of the top 10 prospects in the Atlantic 10 by Perfect Game. On the mound for SLU will be sophomores RHP Miller Hogan and RHP Jackson Wark as well as southpaw senior Devin Mahoney. Hogan was a 2016 Atlantic 10 All-Rooke selection and leads all returning starters with a 3.27 ERA. Wark had a tough-luck freshman campaign, but is one of SLU's most improved players this fall. Mahoney will pull double duty as the team's primary DH as well as a sunday starter.

2017 Season Preview Pitching

The 2017 Billikens boast a deep pitching rotation and an experienced bullpen. Returning to the weekend rotation is Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection Miller Hogan. Hogan had bad luck with a 3-8 record, but posted a 3.27 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 22 walks in 71.2 innings pitched. He held opposing hitters to a .254 batting average. Also returning is LHP Devin Mahoney, who will pull double duty as Sunday starter and designated hitter. Mahoney worked his way into the rotation midway through last season, posting a 4-3 record with a 3.61 ERA and 44 strikeouts to just 17 walks.

Saint Louis baseball is tied for third in the annual Atlantic 10 Conference preseason coaches' poll. It is the fifth-consecutive season in which the Billikens have earned a top-three spot in the poll.

Saint Louis Baseball Season Preview — Outfield and Catchers

Saint Louis boasts one of the most experienced outfields in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Returning are corner outfielders senior Trent Leimkuehler and junior Parker Sniatynski. Leimkuehler was a first-team All-Atlantic 10 honoree last season after hitting .297 with a .326 on-base percentage and .502 slugging percentage. Sniatynski earned second-team accolades hitting .321 with a .369 on-base percentage and .392 slugging percentage.
