Billikens Battle Boilermakers on Road

Freshman Jake Garella leads the Billikens with a .346 batting average, as well as a .457 on-base percentage. Backstop James Morisano has a team-leading nine home runs and .574 slugging percentage. Trent Leimkuehler has 16 doubles this season, 30th in NCAA (.42 doubles per game is 19th in NCAA). Sophomore Miller Hogan is the staff ace. He has a 1.38 ERA (12th in NCAA) and a 7-0 record (ninth in NCAA in victories). Ryan Lefner closes games for the Billikens, posting eight saves this season (27th in NCAA).

Saint Louis picked up an 8-5 win over Eastern Illinois in a rain shortened game. The Billikens and Panthers got through six innings in Charleston before rain and lightning hit the area. SLU now 24-14 overall.

The Billikens picked up a series win over Dayton with a 5-3 game three win. Senior Devin Mahoney picked up the win for SLU, picking up seven strikeouts in 7.0 IP. Ryan Lefner earned his second save of the series and his eighth of the season. Saint Louis now 23-14 overall and 7-6 in A-10 games.

Saint Louis pitchers Miller Hogan (nine strikeouts) and Ryan Lefner (six strikeouts) combined to strike out 15 batters in a 4-2 SLU win over visiting Dayton. The nine strikeouts matched a season-high for Hogan and Lefner doubled his previous career-best with six. The win moves SLU to 22-13 overall and 6-5 in Atlantic 10 games.

The Billikens surrendered two big innings and fell to in-state rival Missouri State 15-8. Charlie Sheehan was strong in relief, throwing five innings with four strikeouts and one walk. The defeat drops SLU to 21-12 overall.

James Morisano leads the team with seven home runs, a .556 slugging percentage and a .408 on-base percentage. On the mound, the Billikens will throw freshman righty Garrett Acton against Missouri State. He is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 20 IP this season. SLU's starter against SEMO is TBD.

The Billikens led for most of the game, but surrendered two runs in the ninth to fall at UMass 5-4. The defeat drops SLU to 21-11 overall and 5-5 in Atlantic 10 games. Starting pitcher Jackson Wark threw five innings, recording six strikeouts. James Morisano led the Billiken offense going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and his seventh home run of the season.
