St. Louis native and former Quincy University midfielder Haylye Markway is in her second year as a graduate student manager with the Saint Louis University women’s soccer team.
Markway played in 84 of Quincy’s 86 games during her career, drawing 83 starting nods and averaging 80 minutes of playing time. She scored nine goals, including four game-winners, and added seven assists.
As a senior co-captain, Markway was selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference third team and the NSCAA All-Midwest Region third team. She also continued her outstanding work in the classroom, garnering NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-Midwest Region third-team plaudits and earning a fourth consecutive GLVC Academic All-Conference award. Markway capped her academic career by receiving the GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award.
Markway helped the Hawks post a 56-16-14 overall record and a 40-11-8 GLVC mark from 2012 to 2015. She was a member of Quincy teams that made NCAA Division II Championship appearances in 2012, 2013 and 2015 in addition to capturing GLVC regular-season and tournament crowns in 2012 and 2013. The 2013 squad was undefeated through regular-season and conference tournament play, finishing 18-1-4 overall and 12-0-3 in the GLVC.
At Nerinx Hall High School, Markway collected first-team All-Conference and second-team All-Metro accolades as a senior and was a second-team All-Conference choice as a junior. She was the Markers’ Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior.
Markway earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and is pursuing an MBA at Saint Louis.
