LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Saint Louis fought back from a three-run deficit to trail by just one run on two occasions, but No. 14 Michigan scored twice in the sixth inning and held on for a 6-3 victory over the Billikens Saturday afternoon at Louisville's Red and Black Classic.

In the first game of the day, No. 16 Louisville downed the Bills 9-0 in five innings.

Michigan (16-6) led 3-0 after scoring a run in the first and two in the third, but SLU plated two runs in the fifth to get back in the game.

Lindsay Friedman led off with a double and Kelly Flanagan walked to bring the tying run to the plate. Friedman moved to third and pinch runner Liz Jones was forced at second on Kelsey Biggs' ground ball.

Friedman scored and Biggs scooted to third when Jessica Van Nostrand's ground ball got past the Michigan first baseman for an error. After pinch hitter Rachel Faletto grounded out, Jessica Buschjost's infield single scored Biggs to make it 3-2.

Michigan and SLU exchanged runs in the bottom of the fifth and top of the sixth, respectively. The Bills' run came on a Laura Bohning single that scored Erin Harcar, who had led off with a double.

However, the Wolverines tallied twice in the bottom of the sixth and blanked the Billikens in the seventh.

Buschjost was 2-for-4 to lead Saint Louis at the plate. Hannah Huebbe (6-3), who struck out seven in six innings, took the loss.

In the opener, Louisville (16-0) took command with six runs in the first inning. The Cardinals added a run in the second and clinched the game with two markers in the fifth.

Buschjost and Friedman had the only hits for the Billikens (11-11). Kelcie Matesa (3-5) suffered the loss.
