ST. LOUIS
- Jenny
Nalepa nearly pulled off a major upset Friday afternoon in the Saint Louis
women's tennis team's 7-0 loss to No. 55 Memphis at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Nalepa, the
Billikens' No. 1 singles player, was edged 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 by 27th-ranked
Courtney Collins.
Despite SLU's loss,
assistant coach Adam Reeb gave the
Billikens high marks for their performance.
"We're
encouraged and positive about competing well against an outstanding nationally
ranked team," Reeb said. "Jenny gave an excellent effort and gave Courtney
Collins all she could handle.
"With the
Atlantic 10 Championship just three weeks away, a match like this really helps
us prepare as we try to win a conference title."
The Billikens travel to Indianapolis to take on Butler Sunday at 1 p.m.
