Bills Topple Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Zych Gets 100th Win

ST. LOUIS - Strong doubles play and four convincing singles wins lifted Saint Louis men's tennis to a 5-2 triumph over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday afternoon at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

The Billikens improved to 6-11 with the win, which was the 100th men's victory at Saint Louis for head coach Jon Zych.

SLU lost just five games in doubles action. Joe Flanagan and Bobby Kidera were 8-2 winners at No. 1, Drew Feder and Vuk Poledica won by the same score at No. 2, and Patrick Kella and Dave Welkener prevailed 8-1 at No. 3.

Singles wins came from Kidera at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), Yehia El Sallaly at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0), Feder at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1) and Welkener at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).

"It feels great to get the 100th win on Senior Day," Zych said. "I am fortunate to be a college coach, and I enjoy it. I appreciate my players, and I believe they make me a better coach."

The Bills hit the road to take on Xavier and Dayton April 6 and 7, respectively, in the final two matches of the regular season. The Atlantic 10 Conference Championship is set for April 13-15.
