DAYTON, Ohio - Saint Louis men's tennis picked up momentum for next
weekend's Atlantic 10 Conference Championship with a 6-1 victory over Dayton
Saturday.
The Billikens (7-12) won two of
three doubles matches and five of six singles contests in toppling the Flyers
(5-13).
SLU took a 1-0 lead with triumphs
at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. Joe Flanagan
and Bobby Kidera won a 9-8 (13-11)
thriller against Aidan Koross and Josh Malyon at No. 1. Vuk Poledica and Drew Feder
breezed past Robert Salcedo and Joe West 8-2 at No. 2.
The Bills prevailed in two singles
tilts that went to a super-tiebreaker. Poledica was a 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 winner
over Malyon at No. 3, while Patrick
Kella came from behind to defeat West 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 at No. 6.
Also, Kidera ousted Andrew Hanley 6-3,
6-2 at No. 2; Yehia El Sallaly
topped Salcedo 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4; and Feder got past Colin Bernier 6-2, 6-3 at
No. 5.
The Billikens now await their seeding and
first-round opponent for the A-10 Championship, scheduled for Friday through
Sunday, April 13-15, in Mason, Ohio.
