ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis is the No. 10 seed for the 29th annual
Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship and will take on No. 7
Fordham in a first-round match Thursday, April 19, at Boar's Head Sports Club
in Charlottesville, Va. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CT).
The winner of
the match between the Billikens (11-9) and Rams (17-5) will face second-seeded
Charlotte (15-5) in the quarterfinals Friday at noon (CT).
Saint Louis was
the A-10 Championship runner-up last season, falling to Richmond in the title
match.
Massachusetts
earned the No. 1 seed and joined Charlotte in receiving a first-round bye. The
Minutewomen await the winner of No. 8 Rhode Island and No. 9 Duquesne.
Richmond, which
has captured the last three and eight of the last 10 conference crowns, is the
No. 3 seed and will face No. 14 La Salle in first-round action. Other
first-round pairings are No. 4 Temple vs. No. 13 Dayton, No. 5 Xavier vs. No.
12 St. Bonaventure, and No. 6 George Washington vs. No. 11 Saint Joseph's.
The semifinals
are set for Saturday at 9 a.m. and noon (CT). Sunday's title match, which
determines the A-10's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship, begins at
9 a.m. (CT).
The
A-10 Championship changed to a single-elimination format this year. There will
