ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis track and field is
sending four standouts to the 2012 NCAA Division I Track and Field West
Preliminary Round, scheduled for May 24-26 at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the
University of Texas.
Senior Brittney
Cloudy, the Atlantic 10 Conference Field Performer of the Year and
conference champion in the long jump and triple jump, qualified in both events.
Sophomore Margo Richardson qualified
for the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, marking the first time in school history
that more than one athlete will compete in multiple events.
Junior Hilary Orf will
compete in the 10,000 meters, while senior Dahmar
Smiles will run the 110-meter hurdles.
The top 48 competitors from each region (West and East) are
selected for the preliminary round. In order to advance to the NCAA
Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 6-9, a competitor must finish in the
top 12 during the preliminary round.
