ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University head men's tennis coach Jon
Zych has announced that Luis Miguel Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) will attend the University and
compete for the Billikens beginning this fall.
"Miguel will
arrive at SLU as a highly accomplished junior tennis competitor," Zych said.
"He has defeated five ATP ranked players and has reached No. 3 in Mexico's
rankings for juniors.
"Miguel has a
wealth of successful international experience, including competing in the
Orange Bowl tournament as a junior," Zych said. "We are confident he will grow
personally and competitively as a SLU student-athlete."
A five-time state champion, Flores won a national
tournament in Mexico two consecutive years and was rewarded with a month-long
trip to Europe to represent his country in competition. In addition to the
Junior Orange Bowl, he has competed in the prestigious Eddie Herr and Prince
Cup junior tournaments. Flores also has participated in ATP Futures singles and
doubles matches since turning 14.
