Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. - Freshman middle blocker Megan Gilbert (Tripoli, Iowa/Tripoli) had
eight kills, and senior setter Cassie Clarke (Fayetteville,
Ark./Fayetteville) tallied 11 digs and 19 assists to lead Saint Louis in its
25-13, 25-17, 25-18 loss to No. 4 Nebraska Friday night at Nebraska's Husker
Classic.
Junior defensive
specialist Grace Bonoma (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius) registered nine digs for the
Billikens (0-1), who held Nebraska (1-0) to a combined .211 attack percentage
in the second and third sets. Gilbert and freshman outside hitter Lindsey
Dinkelacker
(Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) picked up six digs apiece.
Nebraska controlled the first and third sets, but SLU gave the Huskers all they could handle in the middle frame. The Billikens pulled out to a 4-0 lead and were hanging close with the score knotted 10-10. However, Nebraska collected four straight and seven of the next nine points, and the Bills could draw no closer than four points the rest of the way.
The
Bills take on Notre Dame Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to close out the tournament.
SLU's home opener is Monday, Aug. 27, against Santa Clara at 7:30 p.m.
