Box Score ST. LOUIS - Lindsey Dinkelacker registered a double-double of
13 kills and 10 digs, but Southern Illinois toppled Saint Louis 25-22, 21-25,
25-12, 25-14 Saturday afternoon in the Active Ankle Challenge at Chaifetz
Pavilion.
Megan Gilbert collected nine kills and hit
.368 (9-2-19) for the Billikens (1-4), while Grace Bonoma turned in a match-high 12
digs. Carly Marcum
and Cassie Clarke
had three blocks and 35 assists, respectively.
A 6-1 Southern
Illinois run turned a 12-11 deficit into a 17-13 Saluki lead in set one. Saint
Louis narrowed the gap to 18-17 and later to 23-22, but SIU (4-1) held on for a
three-point win.
Set two was tied
11 times before SLU took the lead for good at 14-13. After the Bills built the
advantage to 19-15, the Salukis pulled to within a point on three occasions,
the last time 22-21. However, Saint Louis was able to close out the set and
even the match.
Southern
Illinois grabbed a 5-0 lead in set three and never looked back. Set four was
knotted 9-9 before a 10-1 outburst put the Salukis in command.
Laura Thole led
four Southern Illinois players in double figures with a match-high 14 kills.
Mary Bogdanski and Bailey Yeager tallied 11 digs apiece, and Taylor Pippen
registered a match-high five blocks.

Billikens conclude the Active Ankle Challenge tonight against South Alabama at
7 p.m.
