Box Score

ST. LOUIS - Lauren Baumet and Lindsey Dinkelacker collected match highs in kills and digs, respectively, to lead Saint Louis to a 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 26-24 victory over Southeast Missouri State Saturday afternoon in the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic at Chaifetz Arena.

The win, SLU's fourth straight and fifth in six matches, put the Billikens over the .500 mark for the first time this season at 5-4. SEMO slipped to 5-4.

Baumet pounded a season-high 21 kills and registered a .326 attack percentage (21-7-43). Dinkelacker produced a season-high 26 digs to go with nine kills, two service aces and a block.

Carly Marcum and Megan Gilbert recorded nine and eight kills, respectively, while tying for team-high honors with three blocks apiece. Cassie Clarke enjoyed another strong outing, dishing out 51 assists and racking up 16 digs.

Grace Bonoma tallied 14 digs and two service aces, while Andrea Bolt matched her season high with 13 digs as the Billikens earned an 85-71 advantage in that category. Anna Church (5-1-8, .500, nine digs) and Carly Schumacher (5-1-11, .364) also made solid contributions.

The Billikens broke open a close contest in set one by using a 10-3 run to take a 15-9 lead. SEMO drew no closer than four points the rest of the way.

In set two, SEMO grabbed the lead for good at 4-3 and gradually built a 21-14 cushion. SLU cut the lead to 22-19 before seeing the Redhawks finish the set by scoring three straight points.

Saint Louis went on top 8-5 in set three, but SEMO retaliated with a 7-2 spurt that put the Redhawks in front 12-10. The Billikens quickly tied it at 12, and six more deadlocks followed before SEMO managed to take a 22-20 edge. However, SLU rallied with five consecutive points to close the set and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Neither team led by more than two points in set four until SEMO claimed a 19-16 advantage. Saint Louis responded with a 3-0 run for a 19-19 stalemate, and the set was tied at every point from there until 24. The Redhawks saved a match point trailing 24-23, but kills by Baumet and Dinkelacker sealed the victory for the Billikens.

The Billikens conclude play in the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic Saturday night, taking on South Florida at 7 p.m.
