ST. LOUIS - The
Saint Louis tennis teams enjoyed a successful opening to their fall season at
the Billiken Classic, played Sept. 7-8 at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
In the women's competition, Stephanie Hollis and Mia Elmore captured first place in the No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles
round-robins, respectively, while Brooke Urzendowski tied for first in the No. 3 singles round-robin. Madison
Cook won the Silver singles draw, followed
by teammates Madeline Jolly and Natalia
Yacaman.
The Billiken men picked up four first-place finishes. Pat
Kella won the White singles draw, and Luis
Miguel Flores topped the field in the
Silver singles draw. Nishaad Balachandran and Yehia El Sallaly
teamed for a victory in the doubles draw, while Joe Flanagan and Drew Feder tied for first in the doubles round-robin. Flanagan was the runner-up
in the Blue singles draw.
Both Billiken teams are back in action
Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Lindenwood. The matches get underway at 3:30 p.m.
