ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis University cross
country squads are in Philadelphia for the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Cross
Country Championships, which are set for Saturday, Oct. 27. The women's 5K
begins at 9 a.m. (CT), while the men's 8K is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. (CT). The
event is being run at Belmont Plateau at Fairmont Park.
The women's
team, led by junior Margo Richardson,
is ranked 14th in the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)
Midwest Region. Richardson has claimed All-Conference honors - awarded to
runners who finish in the top 15 - in each of her first two A-10 Championships.
In 2010, she earned Most Outstanding Rookie honors after finishing ninth
overall. Last year, she placed 10th. Senior Elise Medley, junior Lauren
Fyalka and sophomores Jessica
Hoefert, Natalie Myers, Jamee Holmes and Madie Alexander comprise one of the Billikens' deepest teams in
school history.
A pair of
sophomores are expected to run at the front on the men's side. Tim Zellmer and Michael Scolarici have finished first and second, respectively, among
the Billikens in each race in which they participated this season. Senior Logan Davis, junior James Collins, sophomores Henry Arndt, Sean Canavin and Eric
Stoddard, and freshman Nathan
Rubbelke also will run for the Billikens.
Following
the A-10 Championships, Saint Louis will take part in the NCAA Midwest
Regional, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9, in Springfield, Mo.
