ST.
LOUIS - The Saint
Louis men's and women's tennis teams recently participated in two community
service events as part of the University's Make A Difference Day.
On Oct. 6,
the Billikens served as ball persons and supported tournament staff at the U.S.
Open USTA Wheelchair Championships at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
On Oct. 27, SLU tennis took part in an event at St.
Angela Merici Catholic Church in Florissant, helping design and perform
"saintly" skits for local children. Billiken student-athletes and coaches
performed four different presentations involving the lives of St. Catherine of
Siena, St. Miguel Pro of Mexico, St. John the Dwarf of Egypt and St. Zdislava
of Lemberk. The mission was to entertain the more than 100 children and parents
in attendance while educating them about the saints' lives. The Billiken
representatives also passed out candy to the children, who were dressed in
various costumes.
