MBB Preview: Billikens Face Kansas Tonight on ESPNU

SETTING THE SCENE
Saint Louis (2-1) meets Kansas (3-1) tonight in the championship game of the 2012 Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. Game time is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., and it will be televised on ESPNU. Saint Louis topped Texas A&M 70-49 last night to advance to the title game, while Kansas handled Washington State 78-41.

There is a NEW 2-for-1 ticket promotion on select seats for CBE Hall of Fame Classic beginning today at 10 a.m. at the Sprint Center box office.

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
> Junior forward Dwayne Evans leads the Billikens in scoring (17.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg).
> Senior forward Cody Ellis scores 12.0 ppg and is second on the Billikens with 5.3 rpg.
> Senior forward Cory Remekun saw his first action of the season last night after returning from a knee injury and scored 12 points. He also posted two boards and two rebounds.
> Junior guards Jordair Jett (8.3 ppg) and Mike McCall Jr. (11 ppg) have seen - and will continue to see - extensive minutes due to the absence of senior Kwamain Mitchell (foot injury). Jett played a career-high 38 minutes against Texas A&M, while McCall posted a career high in minutes (36) against USC Upstate.
> Junior forward Rob Loe hit three treys en route to 13 points in a 74-62 loss to Santa Clara. SLU was unable to stop SCU's Kevin Foster, who went off for 30 points as the Broncos shot 51.8 percent from the field.
> Saint Louis knocked off USC Upstate 76-59 last Friday at Chaifetz Arena. Evans posted game highs of 21 points and eight rebounds against USC Upstate.
> The Billikens shot 51.9 percent from the field and hit 19 of their 22 free-throw attempts in the win against Upsate. Ellis (15 points) and Jett and McCall Jr. (14 points apiece) also scored in double figures for the Billikens. Jett added game highs of five assists and three steals.

ABOUT KANSAS
> Kansas is 3-1 on the year after posting wins against Southeast Missouri State (74-55), Chattanooga (69-55) and Washington State (78-41).
> The Jayhawks dropped a 67-64 decision to Michigan State on Nov. 13.
> Ben McLemore leads the team with 14.8 ppg, while Elijah Johnson scores 11.5 ppg, which includes an 8-of-23 shooting clip from 3-point range.
> Jeff Whithey scores 11.0 ppg and leads the team with 8.8 rpg and 18 blocks.
> Last season, Kansas advance to the national championship game after posting a 32-7 record.
> Head coach Bill Self is 272-54 in 10 seasons in Kansas, 479-159 in 20 seasons overall.

SERIES
Kansas leads 12-3 in a series that dates back to 1943. The last meeting occurred in the 1999-2000 season, a 71-60 Kansas victory at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo. That was the second game of a home-and-home series that pitted brothers Troy Robertson (SLU) and Ryan Robertson (KU) against each other. SLU beat Kansas 78-65 during the 1998-99 season in St. Louis.

The Billikens return to Chaifetz Arena to face Southern Illinois Saturday, Nov. 24. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
