ST. LOUIS
- Saint Louis head women's soccer coach Kat Mertz has resigned to accept the same position at the
University of Oregon.
"While here just one year, Kat clearly made an impact on our
student-athletes and the SLU women's soccer program," SLU director of athletics
Chris May said. "There was an
overwhelming interest in our head-coaching position last year, and we
anticipate that will be the case once again. We will conduct a national search
to ensure we find the best candidate who will continue to build our program and
put our student-athletes in a position to succeed on and off the field."
"This past year has been a wonderful opportunity and a great
experience," Mertz said. "I can't put into words how great it was to work with
this team and the staff at SLU. I have grown as a coach and I'm sad to leave
the Billiken family, but I am excited for the next chapter in my career. I
would like to thank the University leadership, in particular Chris May. I know that under his
leadership, this program will be successful."
The Billikens went 5-9-4 in Mertz' one season with the squad.
