ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University men’s and women’s basketball Strength and Conditioning Coach Erick Schork has been named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa).

The honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession. Schork received the honor, symbolized by a blue jacket, on Thursday, May 9, at the CSCCa convention in Kansas City.

“This is an incredible honor for Erick,” CSCCa Executive Director Dr. Chuck Stiggins said. “Being named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach signifies a commitment to the student athlete, the Saint Louis University athletic program, and the strength and conditioning profession. We are honored to have Coach Schork as a member of our association and to have him join the ranks of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches. He is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional.”

Schork recently completed his fifth season with the Billikens. Prior to his arrival at SLU, Schork spent four years as the director of strength and conditioning at Wright State University. While at WSU, he helped design and implement training programs for 250 student-athletes, including the women's and men's basketball teams. Schork came to Wright State from Ohio State University, where he served as an assistant strength coach from 1997 through 2003.

Schork earned a bachelor's degree at Springfield (Mass.) College in 1995 and a master's degree at Western Michigan in 1997. He served as a graduate assistant while attending WMU from 1995-97.

After graduation, Schork worked with the Buffalo Bills of the NFL in 1997. He also was the speed coach at Wittenberg University, designed the first weight room for the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and was a consultant for USA Youth Hockey.
