ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis senior outfielder Alex Kelly was named Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) third-team All-American and a first-team All-Midwest Region selection following a vote of college head coaches.
Kelly helped the Billikens to their second consecutive 41-win season, a school record for wins. He led the team in batting average (.326), slugging percentage (.487), home runs (8), RBIs (41) and runs (43). Kelly also earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors this season.
He finished his SLU career with a .334 batting average (10th all-time), 20 home runs (11th all-time) and 30 doubles (20th all-time).
In Kelly's two years of competition, the Billikens won two Atlantic 10 regular season titles, the 2013 Atlantic 10 Tournament title and competed in the 2013 NCAA Columbia Regional.
Kelly becomes the fifth All-American in Saint Louis history. Last season, Travis Parker earned third-team All-American and first-team All-Midwest Region accolades. Mike Barger (third team, 1993), John Marcum (1965) and John Jones (1959) are the other All-Americans for the Billikens.
