ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis freshman goalkeeper Sascha Otte has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.

Otte was between the posts for both of the Billikens' wins last week. Against Tulsa on Aug. 29, he posted one save for the shutout as the Billikens defeated the Golden Hurricane 1-0. On Aug. 31, Otte made six stops in a 3-1 SLU win against Virginia Tech.

Otte is the first Billiken goalkeeper to be named A-10 Rookie of the Week since Ross Kaufman earned the honor twice in 2006.

Also on Tuesday, the Billikens checked in at No. 15 in the first NSCAA/Continental Tire national poll. SLU was receiving votes in the preseason poll.

The Billikens (2-0) return to action this Saturday, Sept. 6, when they travel to Memphis to take on the Tigers. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
