Baseball Falls in Season Opener

ST. LOUIS - Billiken baseball suffered a tough loss at the hands of Pitt, 18-1 in the 2015 season opener. It is the most runs allowed by Saint Louis since April 7, 2010 at Arkansas. Josh Moore (0-1) picks up the loss. 

Despite the loss, several Billikens were strong in the season debut. Right fielder and leadoff hitter Danny Murphy was 2-3 on the day. Catcher Jake Henson also was 2-3, hitting a double and scoring the Bills' lone run. Junior college transfer Trent Leimkuehler was 2-4 on the day. 

The Billikens will look to rebound tomorrow, Feb. 14 when they take on Iowa (9:30 a.m. central) and Ohio State (1:30 p.m.). Sophomore RHP Zach Girrens will get the start against Iowa and redshirt senior RHP Clay Smith will take on the Buckeyes.
