Saint Louis head coach Travis Ford earned his first victory on the Billiken sideline Monday night as SLU posted an 88-76 victory over Southern Utah at Chaifetz Arena.

Senior forward Reggie Agbeko registered his second double-double in as many games with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He also recorded a career-high three blocks. Junior guard Davell Roby finished with 17 points, while freshman forward Elliott Welmer scored 15. Sophomore guard Jermaine Bishop was the fourth Billiken in double-figures with 13 points. He also dished out a career-high seven assists.

-- There were 64 fouls. The Billikens and Thunderbirds combined for 64 free throws made and 91 free throws attempted, obliterating the Chaifetz Arena record for both categories.

-- Saint Louis got off to a quick start, getting three 3-pointers from Welmer (2) and Roby. Agbeko’s basket prior to the first media timeout put the Billikens ahead 11-4.

-- Southern Utah clawed back and tied the game at 13-13 midway through the first half.

-- SLU Trailed 23-19 with less than seven minutes remaining in the first half before going on an 8-0 run, all with free throws, and the Billikens never trailed again.

-- The SLU defense did not yield a Southern Utah field goal over the final four-plus minutes of the first half, and the Billikens took a 37-32 lead into halftime.

-- An 11-1 run early in the second half gave SLU a double-digit cushion, and Southern Utah wouldn’t threaten the rest of the way.

-- It was Agbeko’s fifth double-double of his career. Dating back to last season, Agbeko has led the Billikens in rebounding in six straight games.

-- Agbeko was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and drained 8-of-11 from the stripe.

-- Roby’s 17 points were thanks in part to a 10-of-13 performance from the line. He also dished out four assists, one off of his career best.

-- Welmer hit a pair of treys and finished 5-of-9 from the field. He had two blocks and two steals.

-- Bishop scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half. He finished with seven assists, bettering his previous career high of six done three times last season.

-- Mike Crawford had seven points and eight rebounds.


-- Randy Onwuasor had 20 points and 13 boards, while Jacob Calloway scored 19 points and collected seven rebounds.

-- The Billikens conclude their three-game homestand on Thursday night when they take on Eastern Illinois at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m., and it will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest Plus.
