ST. LOUIS – As a late addition during the early signing period, the Billikens field hockey team announced the signing of Micaela Diaz (Buenos Aires, Argentina). She joins Julia Bakker, Anna Enright, Bailey Foreman, Claire Hellmann, Noor Kalf and Erin McClelland on the SLU incoming freshman class.

Diaz is a center midfielder from Villa Devoto School in Buenos Aires. She has been the VDS varsity team captain in each of the past four seasons. Diaz was the only eighth-grade student chosen to compete with the varsity team. In club season she competes with SCMC, playing center-mid and forward for the U18 team last season. SCMC won the 2016 Intermediate Championship and is competing for the Metropolitano Championship later this month.

“With her speed and unique skill set, Mica will add a variety of options to our attacking unit,” Saint Louis head field hockey coach Danielle Baumgardner said. “Her energy and excitement are contagious, and I am looking forward to her joining our SLU field hockey family next fall.”
