•Jordyn Frantz scored 15 points and Jackie Kemph recorded her fourth double-double of the season, but Dayton claimed a 78-67 victory over Saint Louis Sunday at Chaifetz Arena.
•The Billikens, who entered the game with a seven-game winning streak, fell to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. SLU is ranked No. 4 in the ESPNW national mid-major poll.
•Dayton, which has won five straight and eight of nine, improved to 11-7, 5-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis fell behind 5-1 and did not record a field goal until the 2:36 mark of the first quarter when Olivia Jakubicek made a layup.
•Jakubicek’s bucket triggered an 11-2 spurt that gave the Billikens a 15-7 lead after one quarter. She scored nine points during the run, including a long 3-pointer at the buzzer.
•The second stanza belonged to Dayton. The Flyers outscored the Billikens 25-14 during the quarter to take a 32-29 lead to the locker room. Jackie Kemph tallied six points in the period, while Sadie Stipanovich and Kerri McMahan scored four apiece.
•Jordyn Frantz connected from the arc with 8:33 to play in the third quarter to put Saint Louis back in front, 34-33.
•The lead changed hands five more times before Dayton went on top for good, 43-42, on a basket by Jayla Scaife with 3:14 left in the third. That sparked an 8-0 run that expanded UD’s margin to seven before the Flyers settled for a 53-48 lead after three.
•The Billikens narrowed the gap to three, 55-52, on two Frantz free throws at the 8:50 mark of the fourth quarter. However, another 8-0 Dayton run gave the Flyers a 63-52 advantage midway through the period.
•Saint Louis fought its way back in with an 11-5 run, featuring two of Jenny Vliet’s three 3-pointers, that made it 68-63 with 2:08 to play. However, the Billikens would draw no closer.
•Saint Louis collected a season-high 18 offensive rebounds.
•Jordyn Frantz added a game-high and career-high-tying three steals to her 15 points. Frantz was 7-of-8 from the foul line.
•Jenny Vliet was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and finished with 12 points. Vliet is 14-of-28 from 3-point range over the last six games.
•Jackie Kemph scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists, her sixth double-digit assist total this season. Kemph had just one turnover in 39 minutes.
•Olivia Jakubicek registered 10 points, six rebounds (five offensive) and two steals.
•Sadie Stipanovich, who moved into sixth place on SLU’s career scoring list (1,342 points), led the Billikens with nine rebounds (four offensive).
•Jenna Burdette, 21 points, five assists; Jayla Scaife, 16 points; Kelly Austria, 13 points, three blocks; Saicha Grant-Allen, 10 points, 14 rebounds; JaVonna Layfield, 13 rebounds, four assists.
