THE BASICS

•Maddie Baalman tossed a two-hitter and Allie Macfarlane delivered a two-out RBI single in the first inning to carry Saint Louis to a 1-0 victory over Morehead State Friday morning in the opening game of Kennesaw State's Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

•In the bottom of the first, Emma Buckles drew a one-out walk, stole second with two away and scored on Macfarlane's single to right field.

•After the first two batters were retired in the top of the third, Morehead State loaded the bases on a walk, a hit-by-pitch and a single. But Baalman recorded the third out on a popup to keep the Eagles off the board.

•Baalman surrendered a one-out infield single in the fifth. Following a two-out walk, she retired seven in a row to end the game.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

•Baalman struck out six and walked two.

•Alex Nickel and Hailey Weavers doubled.

•Alyssa Tarquinio and Bailey Strecker collected a single apiece.
