BRONX, N.Y. – Saint Louis was never able to get its offense going in a 54-40 loss at Fordham on Saturday afternoon.

SLU dips to 9-18 overall and 4-10 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Fordham improves to 12-15, 6-8 in the league.

The Billikens’ 40 points were a season low. Freshman forward Elliott Welmer turned in a team-high 10 points, while freshman forward Jalen Johnson scored eight. Freshman guard Zeke Moore scored six points, as did junior guards Davell Roby and Aaron Hines.

Hines buried a 3-pointer and has now hit at least one trey in 15 straight games.

Antwoine Anderson led Fordham with 20 points. Javontae Hawkins scored 17 and Chris Sengfelder chipped in with 13.

Saint Louis shot 37.5 percent from the field, 26.7 percent from the arc and 54.5 percent from the stripe.

Fordham, which won its second in a row, shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and 45.5 percent for the game.

The Rams led by eight at halftime. A Roby 3-pointer early in the second half made it a five-point game, but that is as close as the Billikens would get as Fordham denied the Billikens any chance at a rally.

SLU returns to action Wednesday night when it faces VCU in Richmond, Virginia. VCU is 22-5 overall, 12-2 in the A-10, and tied for the A-10 lead with Dayton.
