•Three players drove in two runs apiece to support pitcher Maddie Baalman, and Saint Louis got past UMKC 6-4 Saturday afternoon in the We Back Pat Tournament.
•The victory was the fourth in succession for the Billikens, who improved to 7-4.
•SLU's second game of the day, vs. Missouri State, was suspended due to a lighting malfunction and will be resumed Sunday at 9 a.m. There was no score in the bottom of the second inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Alyssa Tarquinio delivered a two-out, two-run double in the top of the first inning to stake the Billikens to a 2-0 lead.
•UMKC answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
•In the fourth, Saint Louis struck again with two outs as Alex Nickel drilled a two-run triple to put the Billikens back on top, 4-3.
•Allie Macfarlane hit her second home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-3.
•UMKC scored a run in the sixth and had the tying run at the plate in the seventh, but Baalman worked out of the jam.
•Baalman (3-2) struck out six and yielded three earned runs. She allowed seven hits but only two from the fourth inning on.
•Macfarlane added a double to her home run, and Tarquinio also had two hits.
•Emma Buckles, Mackenzie Peter and Mackenzie Lawson tallied a single apiece.
•Following the completion of the game vs. Missouri State, Saint Louis takes on Southeast Missouri State at 11 a.m. The championship and consolation games will follow.
