•Saint Louis came from behind twice and defeated Austin Peay 6-5 in eight innings Thursday afternoon on day two of Murray State’s Racer Classic.
•The Billikens improved to 11-5, while the Governors slipped to 8-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Austin Peay took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and made it 3-0 with another run in the second.
•Saint Louis pulled even in the fourth. Kaylea Chappelle doubled in the first run then scored when the left fielder misplayed a fly ball. Alex Nickel tied it with a sacrifice fly.
•The Billikens took a 4-3 lead when Allie Macfarlane hit her fourth home run of the season leading off the fifth.
•Austin Peay answered with two tallies in the bottom of the fifth to go on top 5-4.
•In the sixth, Emma Buckles singled in the tying run as SLU took advantage of an error after the first two batters were retired.
•Nickel delivered her second sacrifice fly of the game in the eighth to give the Billikens a 6-5 edge.
•With two outs and the tying run on third base in the bottom of the inning, Chappelle induced a popup to end the game.
•Buckles was 3-for-5, including a double.
•Macfarlane added a single for a two-hit game.
•Nickel smacked a double, while Alyssa Tarquinio and Hailey Weavers contributed a single apiece.
•Chappelle, who struck out three, improved to 4-1. She scattered nine hits but walked only one.
