THE BASICS

Alex Nickel collected four hits in Saint Louis’ 3-1, 4-2 Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader loss to Massachusetts Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.

•The Billikens fell to 14-18 overall and 3-7 in the A-10.

•Massachusetts improved to 15-16, 4-1.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED

•Massachusetts scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning.

•The Minutewomen added single runs in the fifth and seventh.

•Saint Louis took advantage of two UMass errors to get on the board in the seventh. Mackenzie Peter drove in a run on a groundout.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

•Nickel was 3-for-4.

Mackenzie Lawson drilled a double.

Maddie Baalman struck out four.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED

•UMass tallied two unearned runs in the first.

•The Minutewomen doubled their lead in the fourth.

Alyssa Tarquinio delivered a two-run double in the sixth following singles by Nickel and Lawson and a walk to Peter.

Allie Macfarlane picked up a single.
