THE BASICS

Maddie Baalman fired a 3-hitter, and the Saint Louis offense erupted for four runs over the final three innings to give the Billikens a 5-2 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over George Washington Saturday afternoon.

•Saint Louis, which won the series 2-1, improved to 17-19 overall and 6-8 in the A-10.

•George Washington fell to 21-19, 4-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED

•George Washington took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run.

•Saint Louis pulled even in the third on Josie Knesel’s RBI single.

•The Billikens went on top 2-1 with a run in the fifth. Allie Macfarlane delivered a sacrifice fly.

•SLU tallied twice in the sixth, first on Alex Nickel’s sacrifice fly and then on a throwing error following a double steal.

•The Colonials made it a 4-2 game with another solo homer in the bottom of the frame.

•The Billikens got the run back in the seventh when Hailey Weavers came through with a two-out RBI single.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

•Baalman improved to 9-8 with her second victory of the series. The three hits she allowed tied for the fewest she has yielded to an A-10 opponent in a 7-inning outing. Baalman fanned four.

Emma Buckles tied her career high with three hits, including her third double of the series.

•Weavers collected two hits.

•Nickel, Mackenzie Peter and Taylor Meeks notched a single apiece.
