Maddie Pokorny scored her first goal of the season in the 74th minute to lift Saint Louis to a 1-0 victory over Illinois State Friday evening at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens improved to 3-0, while Illinois State fell to 0-2-1.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

Saint Louis set a program record with its 12th consecutive home win (three this season, nine in 2016), breaking the previous mark of 11 established during the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

SLU equaled another program record with its third consecutive shutout to begin a season. The 2003 team is the only other Billiken women’s soccer team to accomplish the feat.

The Billikens also extended their home unbeaten streak to 13 games.

Saint Louis registered a 21-6 advantage in total shots, a 12-3 edge in shots on goal and a 5-0 margin in corner kicks.

•Mary Niehaus made three saves and turned in her 11th career shutout.

•Maddie Pokorny fired a career-high and SLU season-high six shots, including three on goal.

•Alyssa Seitzer and Lindsay Sands launched four shots apiece.

•Alli Klug, Molly Ream and Isabella Palazzolo joined Niehaus in playing all 90 minutes.
