ST. LOUIS -- The Saint Louis women's swimming and diving team was victorious in its first dual meet of the 2017-18 season as the Billikens took on Washington University Friday evening.
SLU defeated Wash U 193-107. In the men’s meet, Wash U claimed a 155-125 victory.
The Saint Louis women were dominant, winning 14 of the 16 events. The Billikens’ double winners in individual events were Mina Glenesk in the 500 freestyle (5:08.86) and 1,000 freestyle (10:32.53); Riley Kirby in the 100 backstroke (59.03) and 200 backstroke (2:08.70); Savannah Nichols in the 100 butterfly (58.86) and 200 butterfly (2:10.32); and Kalley Schwab in 1-meter diving (204.75) and 3-meter diving (252.35).
Also winning were Maggie Sheean in the 50 freestyle (24.89), Elaine Mahon in the 100 freestyle (54.08), Emily Kishish in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.28) and Katie Schmude in the 200 individual medley (2:11.83). The Billikens touched first in the 200 medley relay (Kirby, Kishish, Natalie Daniel, Sheean, 1:50.35) and the 200 freestyle relay (Mary First, Glenesk, Mahon, Sheean, 1:38.78).
The Billiken men were led by double winners Ryan McCoy and Isaiah Williams. McCoy prevailed in the 100 freestyle (47.96) and 200 freestyle (1:44.38), while Williams won the 100 butterfly (50.52) and 200 individual medley (1:56.77). Keegan Paulson touched first in the 100 backstroke (51.90), and Luke Van Gorp won the 100 breaststroke (59.75).
Saint Louis is back in action Friday, Oct. 20, at McKendree.
