LEBANON, Ill. – The Saint Louis women’s swimming and diving team posted wins over McKendree and Maryville, while the SLU men’s team split with the same opponents Friday at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.
The Billiken women defeated McKendree 173-123 and Maryville 256-30 to improve to 7-1 in dual-meet competition. The Billiken men topped Maryville 233-25 and fell to McKendree 166-122, leaving their dual-meet mark at 4-2.
Emily Kishish and Kalley Schwab were double winners for the women’s team. Kishish captured the 100 breast (1:08.56) and 200 breast (2:27.27), while Schwab won the 1-meter (219.85) and 3-meter (222.75) diving competitions.
Lindsey Turner (10:40.88), Olivia Wanasek (10:42.67) and Lily Iler (10:47.93) placed 1-2-3 in the 1,000 free. Savannah Nichols won the 100 fly (58.07) and was second in the 200 fly (2:06.81), while Mary First, Natalie Daniel, Elaine Mahon and Maggie Sheean won the 200 free relay (1:38.14).
Other strong performances for Saint Louis came from Turner in the 500 free (second, 5:12.68), Mina Glenesk in the 200 free (second, 1:54.49) and Madison Kelly in the 200 back (second, 2:06.00).
The men’s team was led by double winner Justin Mars, who touched first in the 100 breast (58.81) and 200 breast (2:10.23). The Billikens finished 1-2-3 in the 100 breast as Luke Van Gorp (59.33) and Matt Bales (59.94) came in second and third, respectively.
Ryan McCoy won the 500 freestyle. His time of 4:39.14 puts him atop the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Isaiah Williams registered runner-up finishes in the 100 fly (50.45), 200 fly (1:51.93) and 200 IM (1:57.37). TJ Halliburton placed second in the 100 back (52.04) and 200 back (1:54.10).
Up next for the Billikens is the Atlantic 10 Dual Meet Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28-29, in Geneva, Ohio.
