ST. LOUIS -- The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams registered three wins Friday evening in their home opener at Simon Recreation Center, defeating Lindenwood-Belleville and Little Rock in women’s competition and Lindenwood-Belleville in men’s action.
The SLU women topped Lindenwood-Belleville 182-34 and Little Rock 141-82 to improve to 10-3. The Billiken men are 6-4 after posting a 165-49 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville.
For the men’s team, Isaiah Williams touched first in the 500 free (4:48.30) and 1000 free (9:59.63), and he joined Luke Van Gorp, Justin Mars and Ryan McCoy for a victory in the 200 free relay (1:27.04).
Matt Bales and Collin O’Brien tied for first in the 100 breast (1:00.04) and were members of the winning 200 medley relay squad (1:35.41) that also included McCoy and T.J. Halliburton. O’Brien added a win in the 200 IM (1:58.69).
Additional event winners were Van Gorp in the 100 free (48.91), Halliburton in the 100 back (51.71), Grant Streid in the 100 fly (51.37) and Harry Niswonger in 1-meter diving (168.48).
On the women’s side, Elaine Mahon and Katie Schmude won two individual events apiece. Mahon captured the 100 free (53.43) and 200 free (1:56.74), while Schmude touched first in the 100 fly (59.90) and 200 IM (2:11.61).
Mary First won the 50 free (24.71), Riley Kirby took the top spot in the 100 back (58.77), and Mina Glenesk won the 500 free (5:05.15).
The Billikens also triumphed in the 200 free relay (Natalie Daniel, Glenesk, Mahon, Maggie Sheean, 1:38.62) and the 200 medley relay (Kirby, Emily Kishish, Savannah Nichols, First, 1:49.54).
Saint Louis competes in the Northwestern Invitational in Evanston, Illinois, Nov. 17-19.
