Saint Louis registered its first Atlantic 10 Conference victory of the season Friday in dramatic fashion, topping La Salle in a shootout after 90 minutes of field hockey ended with the teams deadlocked at 2-all.

The 3-2 SLU win lifts the Billikens to 3-7 overall, 1-4 in A-10 play. La Salle dips to 4-6 and 0-3 in the league.

It was the Billikens' first conference win since 2015 and the second A-10 win in the last 11 years.

The Billikens twice rallied from a goal down the post the gritty win. Freshman Ashlee Kothenbeutel scored an equalizer in the 21st minute, and the teams went into halftime tied 1-1.

In the second half, La Salle went back on top, only to see Emily Wastell score in the 45th minute to make it a 2-2 game.

In the stroke-off, it was Carly Kissinger who sealed it when she put one past the La Salle keeper. The Billikens erupted after finally breaking through after suffering five one-goal defeats so far this season.
