SETTING THE SCENE
-- Saint Louis concludes the regular-season nonconference portion of its schedule on Sunday when it entertains Appalachian State at Chaifetz Arena. Tip time is 2 p.m.

-- The game will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest. Scott Warmann and Scott Highmark are on the call.

-- The game will be streamed live nationwide on the FOX Sports App. It will also be streamed on ESPN+ outside of the FSMW footprint. The game will blacked out in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa for ESPN+ users. It will be streamed for international viewers through Atlantic10.com.

-- The radio broadcast will air on 101 ESPN (101.1 FM and 101Sports.com). As always, Billiken Hall of Famer Bob Ramsey provides the play-by-play, while St. Louis American Sports Editor and new inductee into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame, Earl Austin Jr., handles the analysis. 

THINGS TO KNOW
-- Saint Louis (8-4) returns from Christmas break and begins a three-game homestand with the Appalachian State (5-7) game.

-- Sunday's game is the final nonconference game for the Billikens, who open A-10 play on Sunday, Jan. 6, against Rhode Island at Chaifetz Arena.

-- Saint Louis is coming off an 81-59 loss at Florida State. Javon Bess led the Billikens with 16 points and Carte'Are Gordon chipped in a career-high-tying 14 points, but the 11th-ranked Seminoles shot 55 percent from the floor and 56 percent from the arc to post the victory.

-- Senior guard Javon Bess has led the Billikens in scoring in each of the last four games and six out of the last seven. For the year, he leads the Bills in scoring (15.1 ppg), 3-pointers made (25) and is tied for the team lead with 7.3 rpg.

-- Sophomore guard Jordan Goodwin averages 10.5 ppg and leads SLU in assists (37) and steals (29). He also pulls down 6.1 rpg.

-- Senior guard Tramaine Isabell Jr. is second on the Billikens in scoring with 11.8 ppg. He registered his 1,000th career point in the Florida State game.

-- Freshman forward Carte'Are Gordon shoots 54.3 percent from the field and contributes 9.3 ppg. He leads the team with 22 blocked shots. Senior forward D.J. Foreman turns in 6.5 ppg. 

-- Sophomore forward Hasahn French scores 6.5 ppg and is tied for the team lead with 7.3 rpg. Freshman guard Fred Thatch Jr. turns in 4.2 ppg and is a key contributor on the defensive end.

-- Saint Louis is 18th in the NCAA in adjusted defensive efficiency at kenpom.com.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
-- Appalachian State University is located in Boone, North Carolina. The Mountaineers are a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

-- App State enters Sunday's game with a 5-7 record. The Mountaineers have yet to win away from home, where they are 0-7.

-- Ronshad Shabazz leads App State with 20.2 ppg. Guard Justin Forrest turns in 16.8 ppg.

-- Forward Isaac Johnson averages 10.3 ppg and a team-leading 9.1 rpg.

-- Appalachian State won 15 contests last season, the most victories for the program since the 2012-13 season. App State posted a 9-9 record in Sun Belt play, its best finish since joining the league in the 2014-15 season.

-- In voting conducted by the Sun Belt coaches, Appalachian State was chosen to finish sixth in the conference.

-- Head coach Jim Fox is in his fifth season at Appalachian State. He was an assistant at Davidson from 2001-14, where he coached Stephen Curry.
