ST. LOUIS – Head coach Jon Zych's Saint Louis University women's and men's tennis teams open their spring campaigns on the road this weekend. The women's team travels to Missouri on Friday and to Arkansas on Sunday, while the men's team is at Arkansas on Saturday.

Each team's home opener takes place Sunday, Jan. 27, against Eastern Illinois at St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Illinois. Action begins at 2:15 p.m.

The women's team is a veteran group comprising all upperclassmen. Leading the way is junior Cassie McKenzie, who earned Atlantic 10 first-team All-Conference honors and won 17 singles matches a year ago. McKenzie was 4-0 in singles vs. A-10 opponents.

The roster also includes seniors Alba Salinas, who posted a team-best 18-8 singles mark a year ago, and Ally McKenzie, as well as juniors Mariluz Rojo, Ariana Rodriguez, Alana Bourgeois and Gabriella Papachrisanthou.

In addition to Missouri and Arkansas, the women's schedule is highlighted by matches with A-10 rivals Saint Joseph's, Dayton and Duquesne and nonconference opponents Indiana and Wichita State. See the complete schedule here.

The men's team must cope with the loss of four players to graduation including three-time first-team All-Conference performer David Ferragut, who set SLU's career record for singles wins.

Senior Oscar Pachon, junior Justin Nogalski and sophomore Kenji Yanaba return from last year's team. Nogalski and Yanaba captured 13 singles wins apiece, and Nogalski registered a 14-7 doubles ledger.

Sophomore transfer Ignacio Tintore (Saint Peter's) and freshmen Pavel Badaiants and John Paul McKenzie will be counted upon to make an immediate impact.

Other key opponents besides Arkansas are A-10 teams Dayton, Saint Joseph's, Duquesne and Fordham, as well as Indiana. See the complete schedule here.
