Billikens Compete at A-10 Classic

GENEVA, Ohio – Saint Louis swimming and diving competed against several other Atlantic 10 Conference teams at the A-10 Classic Saturday and Sunday at SPIRE Institute.

 

Saint Louis produced a 2-2 record in the women's competition. The Billikens defeated La Salle (223-128) and George Mason (191-150) while suffering close losses against Duquesne (180-173) and St. Bonaventure (180.5-172.5).

 

In the men's meet, the Billikens topped St. Bonaventure 182-162 and fell to La Salle and George Mason.

 

The women's team produced three individual event winners – Claire Koh in the 500 freestyle (5:05.35), Natalie Daniel in the 200 freestyle (1:55.09) and Emily Smith in the 100 backstroke (57.41).

 

Finishing second were Bri Hodgkins in the 200 butterfly (2:08.39); the 200 freestyle relay team of Mary First, Daniel, Rylee Stone and Katie Knapp (1:38.75); and the 400 medley relay squad of Smith, Alexis Beine, Hodgkins and Daniel (3:57.55).

Lindsey Turner, fifth, 1650 freestyle (17:57.52)

Ellie Benge, fifth, 200 butterfly (2:09.58)

Hodgkins and Stone, tied for fifth, 100 butterfly (58.68)

 

Grant Streid placed second in the 100 butterfly (50.48) to pace the Billiken men. Streid also finished fifth in the 200 butterfly (1:55.47).

 

Collin O'Brien registered three top-five performances, finishing fourth in the 100 breaststroke (58.57) and 200 breaststroke (2:09.32) and fifth in the 200 individual medley (1:55.18).
