STOCKTON, Calif. - The Billikens scored three unanswered goals in a 10-minute span in the second half, but it wasn't enough as they fell 5-3 Friday to Pacific in the season opener for both teams.

Lisa Smith paced the Bills with a goal and an assist. Caiti Brownell and Tori Lycett scored for SLU, with Lexie Lindblad earning an assist on Smith's goal.

Pacific jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second.

SLU then went to work. Brownell scored in the 50th minute, and Lycett tallied in the 58th to make it a one-goal game.

Smith tied it a little more than a minute later, deflecting Lindlad's shot into the back of the cage at 58:51 to knot the score at 3-3.

Pacific, however, scored the game winner in the 62nd minute and added an insurance tally in the 64th for the 5-3 final.

The Billikens continue their California swing tomorrow when they face UC Davis at 9 p.m. (St. Louis time).
