•The Saint Louis Billikens (11-6) play in their final regular-season tournament of 2017, the University of Memphis’ Tiger Classic, this weekend.

•The Billikens face Eastern Kentucky at 11 a.m. and Memphis at 1 p.m. Friday, March 17. The schedule flips on Saturday, with Memphis up first at 11 a.m. followed by Eastern Kentucky at 1 p.m.

•The Billiken offense averages 5.7 runs and carries a .291 batting average and a .500 slugging percentage. SLU clubbed 16 home runs, 33 doubles and eight triples in its first 17 games.

•The pitching staff owns a 2.67 ERA and is allowing opponents a .231 batting average. Billiken hurlers are yielding just 6.1 hits and 2.4 walks per seven innings and have allowed only seven home runs in 17 games.

Allie Macfarlane leads the Billikens in batting average (.434), slugging percentage (.755), on-base percentage (.492), RBIs (18), hits (23) and doubles (five). Macfarlane is tied for the team lead in home runs (four).

Alyssa Tarquinio has a .415 batting mark, two home runs and 10 RBIs.

Mackenzie Peter shares the Saint Louis home runs lead with Macfarlane and is batting .368 with 14 RBIs.

Alex Nickel has team highs of four triples and 16 runs in addition to 12 RBIs.

Hailey Weavers has swatted three home runs.

Kaylea Chappelle and Maddie Baalman lead the pitching staff with four wins apiece, followed by Kallen Loveless with three. Chappelle’s 2.19 ERA is the team’s best, while Baalman checks in at 2.47.


•Through games of March 14, Saint Louis leads NCAA Division I in doubles per game (1.94). The Billikens also rank among the nation’s top 50 teams in triples per game (sixth, 0.47), slugging percentage (23rd, .500), home runs per game (36th, 0.94) and runs per game (47th, 5.71).

Alex Nickel ranks sixth in triples per game (0.24) and 11th in sacrifice flies (three).

•Among NCAA Division I active career leaders, Nickel is 10th in walks (109) and tied for 28th in runs (137), while Mackenzie Peter is tied for 15th in doubles (43).


Alex Nickel became Saint Louis’ career assists leader earlier this season, and she now has 461 assists. Nickel also owns the Billikens’ career records for walks (109) and sacrifice flies (nine).

•Nickel has a chance to set several other SLU career marks. She is tied for second with 23 home runs (record is 29), third with 138 runs (150) and 275 total bases (290), fourth with 170 hits (225) and fifth with 98 RBIs (123).

•Nickel is ninth with 28 doubles.

Mackenzie Peter holds the SLU career doubles record (43) and is in contention for two other school marks. Peter is fourth with 22 home runs (29) and fifth with 262 total bases (290).

•Other SLU top-10 rankings for Peter are fifth in runs (100), sixth in walks (69), eighth in RBIs (85) and tied for ninth in triples (five).

Allie Macfarlane ranks fourth with 102 RBIs, challenging the school record of 123. Macfarlane is fifth with 19 home runs and 10th with 54 walks.

Alyssa Tarquinio ranks fourth with 921 putouts and fifth with 990 chances.

Maddie Baalman is 10th with 19 wins.
