BILLIKENS, EXPLORERS SQUARE OFF IN CRITICAL A-10 SERIES

•The Saint Louis softball team (17-20, 6-8 Atlantic 10) welcomes A-10 rival La Salle (16-19, 4-8) to the Billiken Sports Center for a key three-game series Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23. First pitch for Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s single game is slated for noon.

Allie Macfarlane leads the Billikens in batting average (.348), home runs (seven), slugging percentage (.626) and RBIs (36). Macfarlane is tied for the team lead in hits (40) and doubles (nine).

Alex Nickel carries a .345 batting average; has team highs of five triples, 33 runs, a .433 on-base percentage, nine stolen bases, four sacrifice flies and 21 walks; and is tied for the team lead with 40 hits. Nickel has three homers and 19 RBIs.

Mackenzie Peter is batting .303 with six home runs and 22 RBIs.

Josie Knesel carries a .280 batting average with seven doubles.

Alyssa Tarquinio has a .279 batting mark, two home runs and 16 RBIs.

Emma Buckles leads the Billikens with five sacrifice bunts, is tied for the team lead with nine doubles and owns a .267 batting mark.

Hailey Weavers has four home runs and 15 RBIs.

Mackenzie Lawson has contributed three home runs and 14 RBIs.

Maddie Baalman leads the pitching staff with nine wins (including two shutouts), followed by Kaylea Chappelle with five and Kallen Loveless with three. Baalman’s 2.67 ERA is the team’s best.

BILLIKENS 16TH IN THE NATION IN DOUBLES

•Through games of April 18, Saint Louis ranks 16th in NCAA Division I in doubles per game (1.57). The Billikens are 30th in triples per game (0.27).

Alex Nickel ranks 17th in sacrifice flies (four) and 18th in triples per game (0.14).

SLU IN THE ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE STATISTICS

•In the Atlantic 10 Conference offensive statistics, Saint Louis is tied for the league lead in triples (10), ranks second in walks (120), and is third in home runs (28) and slugging percentage (.423).

Alex Nickel is tied for the conference lead in triples (five). Nickel ranks second in sacrifice flies (four) and is tied for fifth in walks (21).

Allie Macfarlane is tied for third in RBIs (36), fourth in home runs (seven) and fifth in slugging percentage (.626).

Mackenzie Peter is tied for fifth in home runs (six) and triples (two).

•In defensive categories, the Billikens top the A-10 in fielding percentage (.967), are tied for second in double plays (11) and rank third in assists (337).

Alyssa Tarquinio is tied for first in double plays (nine) and ranks third in chances (297) and putouts (284).

Hailey Weavers is tied for third in runners caught stealing (seven).

Alex Nickel is fourth in assists (94).

Maddie Baalman is fifth in innings (125 2/3) and tied for fifth in starts (19).

BILLIKENS ON SLU’S CAREER TOP-10 LISTS

Alex Nickel holds Saint Louis career records for runs (155), total bases (315), walks (123), sacrifice flies (10) and assists (510). Nickel leads in batting average (.343) and on-base percentage (.458).

•Nickel has a chance to set several other SLU career records. She is second with 26 home runs (record is 29) and 195 hits (225), and fifth with 105 RBIs (123).

•Additionally, Nickel is tied for fourth with 32 doubles, seventh with 568 at-bats, eighth with 848 chances, ninth with 39 stolen bases and tied for ninth with five triples.

Mackenzie Peter holds the SLU career doubles record (45) and leads in slugging percentage (.588). Peter is in contention for two other school marks, ranking third with 24 home runs (29) and 282 total bases (315).

•Other SLU top-10 rankings for Peter are third in walks (83), fourth in runs (107), sixth in RBIs (93), tied for eighth in hits (155) and hit-by-pitch (14), and tied for ninth in triples (five).

Allie Macfarlane is second with 120 RBIs, challenging the school record of 123. Macfarlane is fifth with 22 home runs, tied for sixth with four sacrifice flies, eighth with 225 total bases, ninth with 63 walks and 10th with 272 assists.

Alyssa Tarquinio ranks second with 1,065 putouts and third with 1,139 chances.

Maddie Baalman is ninth with 24 wins, 10th with 62 appearances and tied for 10th with three shutouts.

Emma Buckles is tied for ninth with 21 sacrifice bunts.

Hailey Weavers is tied for sixth with four sacrifice flies, ninth with 790 chances and 10th with 675 putouts.
