Brad Cygan became the Media Relations Associate at Saint Louis University in January of 2018 after serving for six and a half years as both the Director of Sports Information and Assistant Director of Athletics for Media and Communication at Missouri Baptist University.
Brad Cygan began as the Sports Information Director at Missouri Baptist in August of 2011, after holding the same job at Lindenwood University - Belleville as a Graduate Assistant. In December of 2015, he was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Media and Communication.
While at MBU, Cygan was the principle contact for all graphic design, branding, streaming and statistical functions for Missouri Baptist Athletics. In his time there, he began live streaming and was the principle architect of expanding the NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational to gain national exposure by broadcasting the semifinals and championship on ESPN3 while Missouri Baptist was the host in 2016 and 2017. He served as the sideline reporter for the 2016 championship and did play-by-play in 2017 for both the semifinals and championship match.
In January of 2018, he arranged and organized the streaming of four Missouri Baptist basketball games on ESPN3 (two each for men’s and women’s). All of the production was done in-house.
Cygan is a 2004 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. In his senior year at Southeast, he worked as an intern in the Sports Information Department under long-time SID, Ron Hines. There, he worked mainly with the baseball program.
After graduating, Cygan pursued a career in Advertising, working at some of the top agencies in St. Louis. In 2010, Cygan went back to school to pursue his Master's Degree in Communications from Lindenwood University. While there, he was hired as a graduate assistant and was soon offered the position as the University's first Sports Information Director. He received his Masters in Communication with an emphasis in Digital Multimedia from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., in the fall of 2011.
In 2013, Cygan picked-up first place in the NAIA-SIDA Publication Contest in the Season Preview category for his preview of MBU Baseball. He was elected to the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors in the summer of 2016 where he served a two-year term. During his tenure on the NAIA-SIDA Board as liaison to the Statistical Committee, Cygan wrote and ushered in new legislation to the NAIA National Administrative Council, with the support of the NAIA-SIDA membership, to require all member schools that host a tournament to provide statistics to all schools that compete in said tournament. A measure that fundamentally changed how tournaments are organized and operated in the NAIA.
In September of 2015, he was named the NAIA National Sports Information Director of the Year, after earning the American Midwest Conference Sports Information Director of the Year over the summer.
Cygan is the principle media contact for Saint Louis University Baseball, Women’s Volleyball, Field Hockey and Swimming & Diving.
