PHILADELPHIA - Third-seeded Dayton continued the momentum of a late first-half run into the second half and defeated Saint Louis 69-51 Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Buick Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Championship at Saint Joseph's University's Hagan Arena.

Saint Louis, the 11th seed, finished the season 11-20. Dayton improved to 21-6 and advanced to Sunday's semifinals to take on No. 2 Temple.

Courtney Webb led the Billikens with 12 points. Senior Janisha Gearlds registered 10 points and tied for game-high honors with five assists in her Saint Louis finale, while Desirae Ball tossed in 10 points.

Lorreal Jones and Kim Bee led the Bills on the glass with nine (game high) and six rebounds, respectively.

Dayton's Patrice Lalor scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in the second half. Kayla Moses added 11 points off the bench, while Ally Malott (eight) and Samantha Mackay (seven) led the Flyers to a 47-43 rebounding edge. Mackay added five assists.

Dayton led by 10 at intermission, and Lalor scored seven quick points to give the Flyers a 39-24 advantage at the 17:43 mark. The Billikens cut the lead to 13 twice in the next 1:20, but UD went on a 15-6 run to take a 56-34 lead and firm control of the game.

Dayton led 14-8 after Elle Queen made the back end of a two-shot foul, but the Billikens tallied 10 of the next 14 points to pull even.

Webb sparked the run with a 3-pointer from the right corner, then nailed a long trey from the left wing. A Jenna Mueller free throw, Gearlds' layup and a Gearlds free throw tied it at 18.

Dayton went on a flurry of its own, however, outscoring the Billikens 14-4 the rest of the half to take a 32-22 cushion to the locker room.
