ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis baseball squad moved to 11-5 on the year and extended their winning streak to five games with a pair of wins over North Dakota. Sophomore LHP Damian Rivera picked up the win in the first game with an 8-2 score and sophomore RHP Clay Smith got the game two victory by a score of 8-1. Rivera went six strong innings, striking out four and allowing two earned runs over six hits. Smith also went six innings, striking out five, walking one and allowing two hits.

In the first game, junior OF Steve Fernandez went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Senior Marco DiRoma stole another bag, his fifth on the year. He has not been caught stealing this season. DiRoma, junior Mike Levine and junior Grant Nelson all scored a game-high two runs. Nelson and freshman Mike Vigliarolo added two RBIs to the contest.

The second game was another offense outpour from the Bills. Leadoff hitter Levine went 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Fernandez picked up the second game where he left off in the first game. He went 3-for-3 in the second game, going 6-for-6 on the day. He also added three RBIs in the contest. Fernandez has reached base in seven straight contests.

DiRoma capped off an excellent series with a 1-for-1 performance, drawing three walks and scoring three times. Over the three games against the Sioux, DiRoma was six-for-nine, scoring eight runs and drawing four walks. He also tallied an impressive four steals in the series. DiRoma is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak.

Saint Louis returns to action on Tues., Mar. 13 at 3 p.m. when they take on the Northern Illinois Huskies at the Billiken Sports Center.
