Billikens Face 11th-Ranked Oklahoma Sunday

MAJOR TEST AWAITS BILLIKENS - Saint Louis women's basketball (0-2) is in for a stern test when the Billikens take on nationally ranked Oklahoma (1-1) Sunday, Nov. 18, in Norman, Okla. Tipoff at the Lloyd Noble Center is 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT - Saint Louis scored on six consecutive second-half possessions to take a six-point lead, but UMKC rallied for a 56-53 victory Thursday night in Kansas City. Lorreal Jones scored 18 points, just one point shy of her career high, on 8-of-10 shooting to lead the SLU attack. Desirae Ball had 12 points and a career-high five assists, while Courtney Webb tallied 10 points. Webb and Jacy Bradley tied for game-high honors with five rebounds apiece, and Bradley registered a game- and career-high seven assists. Mallory Eggert chipped in eight points. Saint Louis shot 55 percent (22-of-40) from the floor and earned a 31-17 rebounding edge, but the Billikens could not overcome 23 turnovers that led to 18 UMKC points.

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS - Lorreal Jones and Courtney Webb lead the Saint Louis offense with 15.0 and 13.5 points per game, respectively. Jones is shooting a team-best 63.2 percent from the field and also leads the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg), followed by Mallory Eggert (5.5 rpg), Jacy Bradley (5.0 rpg) and Webb (4.5 rpg). Bradley averages 5.5 assists and has a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio. Webb is 5-of-12 (.417) from beyond the arc. SLU is 21-of-24 (.875) from the foul line and plus-10.5 in rebounding.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA - The Sooners are ranked No. 11 in the USA Today coaches' poll and the Associated Press poll. Oklahoma opened with a 69-48 win at Creighton and followed with an 86-80 home loss to UCLA. Aaryn Ellenberg averages 21.5 points on the strength of 77-percent (10-of-13) shooting from 3-point range. She is joined by Whitney Hand (16.5 ppg, 6-of-8 in 3-point shooting) and Nicole Griffin (10.0 ppg) in double figures. Hand tops the rebounding chart at 7.0 rpg, while Morgan Hook averages a team-high 6.5 assists.

LAST MEETING - The Billikens and Sooners have met just once before. Oklahoma, ranked fifth, earned an 87-61 victory at Chaifetz Arena Dec. 30, 2008.

UP NEXT - The Billikens play at Nebraska-Omaha Wednesday, Nov. 21, to wrap up their season-opening four-game road swing. SLU's home opener is Saturday, Nov. 24, against Western Illinois. Tip time at Chaifetz Arena is 2 p.m.
