ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University softball placed eight student-athletes on the 2011-12 All-America Scholar Athlete list recently released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The award is bestowed upon players who achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average during an entire academic year.

The Billikens, who tied Rhode Island for the most honorees among Atlantic 10 Conference schools, were represented by Kelsey Biggs, Laura Bohning, Rachel Faletto, Lindsay Friedman, Hannah Huebbe, Liz Jones, Katie Kroeger and Kelcie Matesa.

"Our student-athletes take great pride in their performance not only on the field, but also in the classroom," head coach Christy Connoyer said. "That is evidenced by their academic achievements. They work hard to achieve success in the academic arena and truly value their Saint Louis University education."
